Brief:   The TopBid product team experienced  delays in development with offshore developers due to communication and time differences.  
Inspiration:   Researching other business with similar consistency issues across products and communication issues with developers in other time zone, we discovered that a design system could be a great way to solve some of our issues.  Other companies such as AirBNB and IBM take it a step further and provide a code base as well including styles and markup
Ideation:  Sketched and whiteboarded some ideas based while looking at our current interface and came up with key components, colors and fonts that we wanted to include in the system.  We also took input from other stakeholders and share it during the product update
Implementation:  The product team utilized Invison App's Design System Manager to build out the design system.  We included consistent colors, fonts, font-sizes, forms, buttons, page layout and other components.  The team also received input from offshore developers as we were building the system. We used the bootstrap framework for our components.    
Results:   The development process became much more efficient.  The product team launched the new TopBid interface using Agile to work with developers and business analysts.   Upper management saw the benefits of utilizing a design system including greater consistency across products.
